We were very proud of our year 6 pupils who were confirmed at Collaton St Mary Church on Wednesday 30th April by Assistant Bishop The Right Reverend Richard Hawkins.
It was a wonderful service where all the children were able to confidently take full part in the service, including making their promises to lead their lives following Jesus Christ. The families and friends of the children were also extremely happy and proud of their children. They really are a credit to our school.
Following the successful launch of our new library, local author David Lawrence Jones returned to school on Monday 28th April and Wednesday 30th April to lead workshops for some of our children and to do a book signing event.
This summer term, as usual, we will be making as much use of possible of our wonderful grounds. We have ordered a Mongolian Yurt which will be used as an outdoor classroom for all classes - this will be arriving shortly, so keep your eyes peeled! It will be situated on the area that was formerly the early years play area, which has been remodelled for this purpose.
Soon our thoughts will be turning to the preparation of the Collaton Country Show which will be on Saturday 12th July at 12.00 noon. Last year’s show was a huge success and hopefully we will be able to put on another brilliant show this year – more news to follow …
We shall be continuing with our sports curriculum and classes will have the opportunity of competing in the Tag Rugby Festival and Paignton Sports Academy. Year six did fantastically when they competed and are through to the next round.
Our football team is having a very successful season and have only a couple more games to play in the Schools Football League and also in the Bewley Cup Round. We wish them luck and hopefully all their hard work at training will pay off!
