We wish all our families and friends a happy, healthy and prosperous 2014.
We welcome back our children and families for the spring term at Collaton St Mary. This term we have lots of exciting events and activities planned for the children as usual.
In Foundation and Key Stage One, the children will be learning about 'Wheels, Wings and Watery Things' a scientific topic focusing on vehicles with lots of practical activities to explore forces. The children will also get to know the Quentin Blake "Mrs Armitage" stories really well, and will learn the words and actions, as well as writing their own stories.
In years three and four, the children will be learning about our local area with a geographical study on the geopark, and a focus on local planning issues. The children will visit Kent's Cavern later this term.
Our older children in years 5 and 6 will be learning about Ancient Greece this term, and will be engaged in lots of exciting activities, including making and putting on a shadow puppet show, with help from a local expert. They will also be studying the history and mythology of Ancient Greece and will be writing their own myth or legend.
As usual, there will continue to be lots of opportunities for parents to come into school this term for a range of events which will be advertised through our newsletters and weekly class letters. Parents, friends and members of the local community are always welcomed to our half termly Eucharist services and regular community lunches. As we approach Easter, we can look forward to egg rolling and holy week worships. If you want to know more, please look at our calendar of events, newsletters and contact the school office. Thank you.
